In our recent history, we identified a gap in the market between our 43mm and 66mm diameter rubber-coated magnets – part of our boutique® magnet range. Determined to provide a solution, we set out to introduce a new product that would bridge this divide. The outcome? Our 50mm diameter rubber-coated magnet.
How is it made?
Our engineers kick-started the process by designing the magnet using our CAD software. Subsequently, a base plate housing 6 neodymium magnets is positioned within our injection moulding machine. Granulated rubber is then fed into the machine's hopper, where it passes through a heated screw and barrel, transforming into a pliable compound. This compound is then injected around the base plate within its mould, culminating in the creation of the final product.
Once the moulding process is complete, the rubber-coated magnet is carefully removed from the injection moulder, allowed to air cool, and then packaged for transportation. We offer you the flexibility to tailor your order to your exact specifications. Whether you prefer a specific colour or need to choose between various fixing studs and bush options – whether open or closed – we're here to accommodate your preferences.
What happened next?
One of our clients, a prominent retail POS manufacturer for over 20 years, approached us with a specific requirement. They needed a rubber-coated solution that would prevent slippage and ensure a secure hold for their POS displays. In response, we provided them with samples of our 43mm, 50mm and 66mm boutique® Magnet range for evaluation.
After testing, the newly introduced 50mm version emerged as the preferred choice. With a consistent demand, these magnets have become an integral part of our client's POS displays and are regularly manufactured here at our facility in Sheffield. To this day, we are the only company that can offer the 50mm diameter rubber-coated magnet.
