Choosing the right magnetic tape

When choosing magnetic tape, start with the surface. If the item is being fitted to steel or another magnetically receptive surface, self-adhesive magnetic tape can usually be applied to the back of the graphic, sign, panel or display item.

If the surface is not magnetically receptive, steel tape can be used with magnetic tape. The steel tape is fixed to the wall, board, fixture or display area, giving the magnetic tape a surface to grip to. This makes it easier to create removable or changeable signage, POS displays, printed graphics and information panels.

Next, consider how the tape will be used. For print, signage and display work, low memory, anti-marking coating and the right adhesive can make installation quicker and reduce the risk of marking the printed media. For production or repeat application, rolls, cut lengths and kiss-cut pieces can help speed up fitting.

The main details to check are width, thickness, adhesive type, magnetic profile, roll length and whether you need standard magnetic tape, magnetic pairs or steel tape.
